Changing thinking about blogs

I have gathered some different understanding from the discussions with my class. I think that I didn't realize that the negativity sometimes is intentional in blogs whether its feedback or criticism and that sometimes individuals don't take into account the audience factor (hence who will read the blog postings) or how an individual will feel if they are mentioned or criticized or even what affect it could have on a business. There are sometimes honestly things that may be unaware to an individual or a business that may be better suited to be addressed in a different forum. I am really rethinking my opinions of blogs as the days go by.

  1. Tamara-
When you state "that you are rethinking blogs" combined with your comments, does that mean you are considering them as a negative form of communication for a company? This is the first time for me to even think about blogging and I am concluding that blogging should be considered based on business type and blog objective. If the business is a sports team and wants to build and involve fan participation then blogging probably is a positive idea, if a business is blogging to receive feedback on their products and services they may be in for a rude awakening and negative "press" that they did not intend. Just my thoughts on the whole blogging world, and where I see it as a place for more negative converstation then positive.
Thanks for the discussion opportunity John

  2. No, I mean that although there are blogs set up specifically for the purpose of bashing or posting negative comments; I am understanding more of how different blogs are used. I don't consider blogs as a negative form of communication for a company but I think that they can become a negative form of communicstion. I totally agree that blogging should be based on business type and objective but that is exactly my point. How do we stay the course with the objective. Thanks for your response.
